I'm so confused.. plz help

I'm very confused at this moment. Tommorow I'm going to get back my Computer after almost a year without it... (My Video Card got burned as long with the motherbord) and tommorow I'm going to get it back with GF FX5700. Now i read something about VALVe forcing the game to run at DX8.1 instad of DX9 and there is a posted solution: http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1026929557&postcount=9

and now i saw this thread about sort of a patch: http://www.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=197418

What should i do tommorow before I'm going to run the game?
I'm thinking of following the 1st solution but what about this patch?
I mean.. will it do any trouble? What should i do? what should i choose to do tommorow? somehow it seems that it is not a good idea to do them both. please help me, Thanks in advance!

Dude...unless you REALLY need 9.0, I wouldn't worry about it.

I've been running it with an FX 5200 on medium settings with DX 8.1 and haven't had any problems.

I wish to run the game on DX9 and to have a good frame rate.

The 1st solution makes the game run with DX9 and Improves the Frame Rate. but the second solution doesn't sound bad as well.. I'm still confused :rolling:

Don't worry about it, play the game as you normally would, then once when you have completed the game, try fiddling about with enabling DX9 and then complain if you believe you missed out.

yeh i have the 5700, if i were you id play through with dx8.1 first because it should run nice and smooth and then play around with the dx9 stuff. You wont be able to get over like 20~30 fps with dx9 though, at least not yet anyway. btw i wouldnt bother witht the 3Danalyse tweak, i think the patch works much better.

Is the patch ruding your FPS or it keeps stable?
