Hey guys, i'm an experienced maya user and im trying to import some smd files into maya 7 but I can't get the scripts in the sdk to work. Whenever I try and import any of the sample smd files I just get the bones and hierarchy contained within the file but with no geometry.

I get this error in the script editor:

// Warning: file: /maya/7.0/scripts/smd/smdRead.mel line 197: Converting string "" to a float value of 0. //
// Error: end of file readched without tag triangles //

I'm also unable to import DXF files from hammer at all, it just claims its an unrecognised file format.

Anyone got any ideas?

Failing that does anyone know how to install a SMD reader for blender? I could use this as an intermediate stage...

ur best bet is to get a max user to import it ...then export it to objfor u... i could dod it for u if u want

Assuming you're not actually doing anything wrong with the import, I'd check what SMDs were being imported. Only the ones marked "Reference" have triangles - the rest are animations.
