Basically: pre-post, post-parsing, anti-dumbnoob warning messages.

Set up some key phrases to sense for like "no hydra", "gman is really", "gordon's father", "grodons dad", "gordon frm teh future", etc., etc., etc. and if found on posting, force a post-preview page displaying rather large messages detailing how amazingly overstated these various subjects are coupled with some ominous version of "Are you sure you want to humiliate yourself by posting this new thread about the {Hydra|Gman|Nude Alyx|Live Nude Dr. Kleiner|Whatever}?" and possibly even link to stickied FAQs about such subjects.

Why? Because it's obvious people are just entirely too stupid to read stickies themselves and just maybe, faced with the possibility of emminent humiliation, they'll reconsider adding even more worthless crap post data to the database.

I'm hoping this isn't a unique idea and that there's a vBulletin module/plugin for it. I'm looking for one currently. If there's not then this request immediately becomes more involved.

Welcome to the world of internet forums...

We're not going to put effort into something like this, we'lll just carry on moderating as much as we can :)

Understandable. Totally possible all that string mangling could be worse on the server than just dealing with it the old way, I'm just getting tired of it and I've only been here a few weeks.

Doesn't seem to be an amazing outcry against, so maybe I'll just get used to it like everybody else has. =]

Thanks for the time.

Yeah... I've been here for 18 months now. You get used to it :)

We'll always do whatever we can to reduce it.
