In Half Life 2 Ep1, where are saved games in the menu mapped to actual saved games?

Because several different saved games in my load game menu open the same saved game when I click on them, even though they have different save dates and icons.
The frustrating thing about this is that it's not even the most recent game that they point to!
Anybody know how I can fix this? Thanks in advance,

Try the chapter menu or deleting the save that the game loads up all the time.

X:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/username/half-life episode 1/ep1/SAVE

Tried deleting things gradually but didn't seem to help, so in the end started a new game from Chapter 4. I wouldn't have thought of that myself, so thanks guys!
