I can't seem to upload my avatar ingame. When I try, it gives me a "vtex.dll" error. Am I missing something? I don't really feel like re-downing the game just for this, as it works flawlessly.

Unfortunately, I think the in-game system relies on the SDK. Since TF2 is not yet IN the SDK, using the auto-system doesn't work. You'll have to do it the hard way.
If this is indeed what you mean and you can't figure out what the 'hard way' is, feel free to ask and I will try to elaborate.
