Installing Someplace Else mod

I can't seem to find the right place. The readme file says:

If you are using a version of Half-Life which uses Steam, drag the
'someplace_else' folder into 'Steam/SteamApps/user@name/half-life'
and restart Steam. Someplace Else should then appear in your games
list.

My Steam folder has no "user@name" folder. Mine looks like this:


Steam/SteamApps/anotherlife/half_life_2
Steam/SteamApps/anotherlife/half-life 2 lostcoast
Steam/SteamApps/anotherlife/half-life 2 deathmatch
Steam/SteamApps/anotherlife/half-life source
Steam/SteamApps/SourceMods

I've tried putting it in everyone one of these folders, but this mod never appears in my game list.

Anyone with suggestions?

when you say restart steam do you mean you acctually right click on the icon and press exit or you just close the steam window because you need it fully closed for it to work

Your user name for steam is what he means by "user@name"

And, I think you dont have Half life. You need Half Life 1 to play, the original half life.

I bought the Game of the Year bundle which includes Half Life 1 Source. Is that not adequate to play this mod?

Good point. I hadn't realized there was an exit function.

So I exited the program - as your suggested - and loaded the 'someplace_else' folder into all of the directories I mentioned previously, exiting and restaring after each trial.

Still can't get the game to appear in my Games list.

anothorlife is your user name and by what you have told me your trying to install a hl1 mod on to a totally different game engine and that will not work you need to buy hl1 original not source

Can you play the original HL1 using Steam?

Your username seems to be "anotherlife" from what I see.

You can use the original Half Life on Steam. If you have it already just go into steam and enter your CD-Key where it says "Activate your product on steam. If you dont already have HL buy it, either on Steam or in the stores.
You should then be able to play Someplace Else

Yes you do have that directory, the example given is just a placeholder.
Go into Steam and then into your username for Steam.

I don't think any HL1 mods will work for HL:S, sorry.
