I was just wondering if anyone else has a similar problem with the trees, and hopefully a solution.

At certain angles, the foliage on the trees adopts a speckled, mesh-like texture and appears flat. It seems strange to me as it's not a low-res distance texture as the are distant trees clearly maintain proper foliage. It happens to nearly every tree on screen simultaneously and while it isn't experience ruining, I'd rather do without.

If no one else knows of this, then I'll post screen shots.

Sorry for double post, but here are the screen shots:

May not seem much there, but it flashes on and off relative to viewing angle and is quite distracting. Should be noted it doesn't seem to happen in every level.

Sure your computer can handle it?

Yeah performance is perfect, this one visual oddity is my only problem.

Not sure if it's at all related, but I also get these errors in the console.

info_particle_system (fx_portal_storm_3_branch3) has no particle system name specified!
info_particle_system (fx_portal_storm_3_branch2) has no particle system name specified!
info_particle_system (fx_portal_storm_3_branch1) has no particle system name specified!
info_particle_system (fx_portal_storm_5) has no particle system name specified!

I get that in Gmod beta, but I only get missing sound files from the game as warnings in my console, these were obviously taken out before release

Also, can you check how your Portal storm looks and give us a screenshot, I believe you may be missing the electronic branches at the top of the portal

You have an nVidia card, right? Go to its control panel (right click on desktop) and go to 3D Settings Management tab. There you'll find "Antialiasing - Transparency", set it to either Disabled or Supersampling (very performance expensive!).

I also noticed that one of the filtering settings (in the graphics card control panel), if not set to highest possible, causes some of the minor foliage in Ep2 to be invisible. I'm not sure whether it was an older drivers problem, or rendering engine fault, so I don't know if it still occures.

I don't know as I never had an ATI card, but I'd imagine it also has something to do with alpha-tested textures antialiasing. Check your card's control panel.

dont even try pimpin. considering your graphics card MELTED today...

This thread really should be long and dead, but since someone dug it up...Who's graphic card melted?
