IS there a way to play half-life 2 if you have no internet connection?

My internet is going to be down for a few days and I was woundering if there was a way to play HL2 with out connecting to steam. I did buy it through steam, which turns me out to be lucky since all of the BS the cd users have to go through, but I'm not playing on line or any of that shit. I heard about an offline version but I also herd it dosent work. Any help would be kickass, thanks.

Offline mode is all you have to play without the internet. It always works for me.

Well, for the offline mode to work you need to have the "remeber password" box checked. Then, whenever you try open steam but have no connection, it will give you a dialouge box saying that it couldn't connect and will give you two choices. You can click retry, or click "start in offline mode". Obviously you want to click the "start in offline mode"one. Thats about it I think. It should work.

If I were you I'd try and see if Offline Mode works while you still have Internet access, rather than waiting till you don't, then discovering "oh noes! offline mode is broken!". Disconnect from the Internet, pull the cable from your computer, whatever, as long as Steam doesn't detect an Internet connection, Steam will go into Offline Mode.

there is a rather nice button that i frequently use called the search function. You can use it to discover old topics that other people (maybe some noobs) have posted. If you were to use the search button, u would discover multiple threads created for exactly the same purpose that u created one urself... now who's wasting bandwidth?

run it in online mode, do all the updates, then run it in offline mode. If that doesn't work, play around with the buttons on the settings menu, coz thats always fun

Third, to activate offline mode, start steam without an active internet connection- it'll prompt you to start offline mode of steam.
