a way to turn off the ugly "HDR Simulation" lighting? I hate it. I prefer the 2003 look.:D I looked through the cfg file, but didn't find anything related.

Nah, this "lighting" was in the game before they implemented HDR in source officially to the public. This ugly crap shipped with the game. It's not "true" HDR, so I doubt changing the HDR option in video options would do anything since this lighting was there even before that option was made available to the public like I said.

I think you need to be more specific about what you are talking about. A screenshot is worth 1000 words.

I know theres a light on the 2004 version that's not there on the 2003 build of the game, but that same cheesy lighting effects are in C17.....and most of the time those lights aren't even there when i see the blue lighting.

Those are baked on lights, there is no way to turn them off aside from using something like mat_fullbright.

that lighting does look more realistic but it looks kind of dulll to me. also theres no way you can change the lighting and there is no hdr in hl2 anyways so it wouldnt make a difference, but there is probably something in the console you can change to get it close. i wouldnt know of it though.

i don't understand what your complaint is. what's wrong with the lighting?

that's the way it's meant to be - harsh blue light
whats the problem?
