After using HL2 for a month I am having a problem with Steam that has made it impossible for me to play HL2 even in offline mode.

I tried posting my problem on the Steam forums but apparently they are not working. Can someone check if this link: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/ is working? I need to rule out the possibility that my PC is the problem. thanks

Steam should know better and install servers that can handle all this traffic...
