Come March 1st I am taking over the rent of my apartment including tv and internet. I don't watch a lot of tv, so I am going to ditch the cable bill but I have to pick an ISP soon. The one I am leaning towards now is Telus which costs $36/month for "up to" 3 Mbps with a 60 GB/month cap. I think 60 GB/month would be adequate but I don't have anything to compare that with.

Can anybody else recommend any good fast cheap ISPs in Canada, specifically BC?

I'm sorry for answering a question with a question, but I fail to see why people are still having a cap put onto their online usage & being ok with it. Is the word unlimited no longer a word in Canada? It was when I lived in Whistler, BC, albiet that was several, several years ago...

Can someone here please tell me why caps get put onto their online usage & more important, why you are ok with it.

Hahahahahaha.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

For your own sanity, don't come here. :|

I don't live in Canada, but I live near it, and will give you something to compare with.

If you want up to a 5Mb line, you get up to a 20Gb cap per month, for a decent price.

LAME.

Luckily I'm piggy backing my internet service off my mom's cable TV service and I signed up for a two year contract with cell service (lame) so I get 5Mb (up to 10) and unlimited DLs (with a very weak upload speed) for $70 a month. You can't get unlimited DLs unless you either want to pay over 100 a month or sign up for multiple services.
3Mb with a 60Gb cap for $36/m to me sounds quite good. Unless you are downloading movies and games all the time you'll never meet that cap. Over here, you get a 5Gb cap with a 3Mb line. :|
You can DL Orange Box then play it the next month if you don't want to incur extra charges.

So what are you saying, I should boycott the internet because the ISPs have DL caps? Sure it would be great not to have DL caps, but it would also be great to not pay for gasoline and get a blowjob every night.

Might I suggest becoming a pirate?
