And here are the facts - every reason you people have given for not showing Gordon's reflection has been pulled out of your asses. There's only one reason why it hasn't been done - so Valve doesn't have to figure out how to show Gordon holding things without them floating in front of him.

That's it. The only reason. All this bullshit about the CPU hit, a 'design ethos,' it's 'too hard' to make a Gordon model, etc, is 100% fiction. I find it amusing that there is a good reason why it hasn't been done yet but nobody here was smart enough to mention it, instead making shit up in the spirit of true fanboyism.

And for the record, Van Halen, I don't need your permission to want a game feature, and I *know* I don't need an explanation because neither you nor anyone here are educated, intelligent, or cognizant enough to provide one. It's like a schoolyard in here.

So chill out. I'm not insulting your favorite game. It happens to be my favorite game, too. But criticism and suggested improvements isn't assault on your lifestyle or anyone else's.

The only reason it comes off as you attacking is that you won't listen to any of the reasons people are giving for why the game is that way. You're even ignoring them, but when someone calls you out on it you come back in and say that we're assholes, douche bags or whatever. Like I said, Valve has their reasons for releasing it the way they did. You kind of explained it yourself in your post. If you really think it would be that easy, go do it yourself. Valve isn't releasing a movie, it's a game. I have to be honest, while I was enjoying the game and not looking around for better ways to beat it, I never noticed the lack of mirrors. It might just be something you were looking for, but really, would you want valve taking all that time just to code a decoration, or release another damn game? I'll take the game please. :D

And bigexplosions, that was by far the least inspired picture I've ever seen. Good job on that, buddy. ;) (just joking.)

I would like to take the liberty to say that I am nowhere in that pic, I happen to be in another group, the "I just want you all to stfu" group. :D

On a lighter note, I would like to finally see Gordon. Outside of the additions of mirrors and seeing Gordons reflection in water, etc. The potential addition of some variation of the portal gun will necessitate a completed player model. Of course, I'd also like to be able to look down and see my feet, similar to "Fear" simply for the added realism.

This is of course my opinion, make no more of it then that.

When you play multiplayer in HL1 you can choose a model of gordon with or without a helmet,but i forgot how it looked like cause i was too busy choosing the color :-)
 
Well, you grouped two of my statements together. The fellating of Gabe Newell's dick was directed to Van Halen specifically. I still think most of these 'arguments' are complete supposition, however.
 
Lets not go off topic. What about unreal tournament , theres a mirror in that.It wouldnt ruin the game if there was 1.You wouldnt really pay attenstion to it much because you have better things to do then look in the mirror to see if your pritty.

No im not im just saying that unreal tournament was made the same time as half life and it had mirrors that worked.So go find a hole and stay in it.

Yes, you are. You are making a direct comparison between Half-Life and Unreal Tournament. Assuming I'm reading your post correctly, you pretty much implied outright that because Unreal Tournament did fine with mirrors, so would Half-Life. This completely ignores gametype, narrative, tone, and developer intentions.

The fact that an in-game model of the player would look like it's plucked straight out of HL2DM(minor facial animations and moving fingers won't make much of a difference) isn't a supposition. It's an example that's already seen in dozens of FPS where the player can see a reflection of himself.

Hey. Speaking of Gordon's face, I'm SURE this has been asked a million times, but does anyone know if his current face (the one on the game covers, other art etc) is modelled on a real person's face?

Knowing that there's someone out there who looks exactly like him would be a million times more bizzare than everyone else who did the other game NPC's :eek:
 
They modeled Gordon's face off a composite photo of, like, five different people or something. It's in Raising The Bar. While everybody else's character is like a mimicry of a real-life person, Gordon's face was one they wanted to make uniquely their own.

I guess you not understanding how I meant that is my fault, I was joking, but i didn't make it very clear. The "shut up -.-" meant that I was aware of how selfish, and asinine that sounded. :)

I'm done arguing, you're obviously never going to change your mind, and I was probably foolish for thinking I could change your mind in the first place. Oh, btw everyone, if you go into Gmod 10 and look in the models folders, there will be a model called PLAYER and that's your player model in game.

You people are all retarded. I am in complete agreement with the first post.

All we need to see is ONE glimpse, maybe one mirror in the whole game (maybe at the end of ep 3 or something) that only lasts a second so you can't really see the expression (maybe passing by a mirror on an elevator you can't control). That's it, nothing more.

And the retard who said having Gordon speak is the same as having him visible for once, is just that, a retard.

We already know what Gordon looks like no need to see it in-game. Look at the Chell model in Portal. You really want to see a Gordon equivalent reflected in a mirror? No thanks.

I have to say, Gordon is just ok without seeing himself. Why the hell do we want to see him? So Valve has more work? 'Cause some of us haven't seen picture of him? Google it. I think the way this game is, it is awesome. And there's no use of seeing Gordon in-game.
 
Though I'd hate to see it reflected in-game, I would like to see an official Gordon model.

But that's just me.
