As a lot of you know the patch added the new command mat_forcemanagedtextureintohardware and set the value to "1" (enabled) to stop this stuttering problem most people seem to having. Before the patch, correct me if I am wrong this command did not exist...
Anyway, I noticed my frames per second dropped by 5 frames per second on the stress test since the patch (max settings, 1280x1024, 2x AA and Trilinear) and made the stuttering worse for me.
So for anyone that never really had a bad stuttering problem I recommend you set it back to mat_forcemanagedtextureintohardware "0" in the console and see if you gain any FPS like I did.
PS. It seems Valve recommend this set to "1" seen as they've set it as default so set it to 0 at your own risk, but might be worth the FPS gain with it turned off. Worked for me anyway!
