ladder not moving with parent

I have been trying to get my func_useableladder to move with my vehicle for a while now. It works when I enter the map and attempt to climb it before moving the vehicle. it even works If I set its parent vehicle to fall from a few feet after the map spawns. As soon as I drive the vehicle a distance the ladder refuses to work. I have not forgotten to create dismounts and such and have give them the same parent as their corresponding ladder ent. Has any1 ran into this before and would any1 have an idea for a solution?
 
phys ents + parenting = recipe for the weird and wonderful

have you tried using the ladder at its spawn location AFTER you move the boat?

try using a logic_auto with a SetParentAttachment output to the ladder and dismounts instead of spawning the map with it already parented. i was able to parent a func_dynamic spotlight to an APC that way (wouldn't work otherwise)
 
yeah thats a good idea. and no i couldnt use the ladder at its spawn location after moving it cuz theres nothing to push against. unless... would a ladder work if there is nothing near it such as a ladder prop model? Thanks again.
 
yes a ladder should work without a prop since the ladder is the invisible volume defined by the ladder ent and the helper. the sound fx are hardwired i think, so all ladders must be metal
