latest steam update crashes game

the latest update today, and now HL2 crashes in-game, usually a minute or two into a game. :frown:

anyone else suffering?

Trying validating your gcfs .... check on the Steam website. There was a minor change 2day which may have corrupted your file. Haven't heard of anyone else having the same prob tho (hope u did at least look at the Community Game Support forum here, which is where this thread should be)

I had the same thing.
go to : http://members.home.nl/roelvdeerden/Steam Applications Maintenance/Steam Apps Maintenance.htm
and validate hl2, it updated half an hour and everything went back to normal :thumbs:
