I can't seem to get rid of LaunchPad.exe. This thing hides everywhere and its annoying, the program stem's from Sony's Online Launcher, I used it for Planetside and Star Wars Galaxies long ago, but it won't go away now.

Every little thing I do, that thing pops up and starts to receive files which goes to my Documents. I did a full scan with AVG and Ad-aware and it doesn't catch. I've done a computer search and deleted every affiliated file with it including going through the regedit.

When everything seems to be gone, including the LaunchPad.exe itself, it all comes right back with it receiving files over and over again. LaunchPad.exe files was also hiding within my AIM 6 folder too which was weird. I can't run any setup.exe's for games or other programs because of LaunchPad.exe. Instead of getting a installation to start, or even an uninstallation, I just get Sony's LaunchPad which loads up.

Has anyone else have this problem?

try and see if you can get a hold of a second virus scanner...scan in safe mode etc. it sounds like you got a virus...

That sounds bad. But, lol, you may/may not have got haxxed.

This thing is a complete bitch, its as if it has a mind of its own. After I delete every file affiliated with it, a moment or two later when I try to start up AIM 6 or the uninstalltion of Oblivion setup.exe that thing pops back up and starts receiving files all over again.

LaunchPad.exe also pops up when I start up my computer.

Thats the image I see all the time these days...

Have you let it try to finish updating?

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL, click on Processes and end LaunchPad.exe from there. It still starts backup?

Also, to get rid of it from starting upon startup, click Start > Run and type "msconfig" and press OK.

Click the startup tab, and uncheck the thing you don't want started up when Windows loads.

If none of that helps, I simply recommend removing all traces, including registry entries.

For that, goto Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, and uninstall the SOE things. Then delete whatever files you had before.

Then click Start > Run and type "regedit", and press OK.

Click on Edit (At the top of the window), then Find, and search for the launchpad.exe entries, and whatever else may be related to the Sony launcher.

Hope that helps. :)

most of those will do good, but theres a flaw in that if you didnt read his post well. he said that it will open up to anything exe. he opens so it would still be active even though it doesnt start up when he turns his pc on,but i could be wrong. also a program called 'The Cleaner' helped me alot with crap on my pc or you if you can find a registry cleaner program then that would help alot. i use to have one but unistalled it awhile ago and i dont remember the name of it, but it worked wonders.

If you go mucking around in the registry, be sure to make a backup first.

File-Export, and then Import to restore if you break something ;)

Do what DevgruSeal says :) It's exactly what I was about to post.
