hey everyone ive been trying to leaern how to map with unreal ed but i cant seem to get used to it, it feels really clunky and i dont get the whole idea behind builder blocks and all that jazz. any one have any useful tutorials they have found? ive checked the wikis but there not as good as the source ones.

Alternatively, try and get hold of the book "Mastering Unreal". If you can't make maps after reading that, then you probably don't have any limbs. Or eyes. Or a brain.

Hmm.. I think I may buy this actually.

You might have to sign up, but it is the BEST video training you can find anywhere for Unreal Tech.

You want to know why I make such a bold statement? Because the developers included 3D Buzz's training videos on the second DVD of the UT2k4 special edition.

They put 3D Buzz up there as a "primary" resource.

:) Enjoy!

*Edit* Oh, and these same guys wrote the book, "Mastering Unreal"... So download the videos and get the book and you will be set :D

wow so your saying unreal is better than hammer? also a question, can unreal tournament 2003 be modded to have a more single player story to it, rather than a deathmatch thing, can the engine handle it?

Played Thief? That's the original Unreal engine. UT2K4 can definitely handle single player games, and the original Unreal can handle single player games, so I would say it's safe to guess that 2K3 can handle them as well.

Um...Thief didn't use the Unreal engine. It used the Dark engine, created in-house by Looking Glass.

If you want to do a traditional single-player game on any of the UT engines, there's quite a chunk of coding involved.

Well Splinter Cell used the Unreal engine.

Trust me, the engine is more than capable of creating SP content. :)

I've been using it. It's not bad, though it does have it's fare share of problems, such as it can crash quite a lot.

Thanks Iced_Eagle the videos are helping. I think Valve could learn from the unreal ed. Some of its features are really useful.

I was confusing T:DS, and the UT mod by Black Cat Games, with the original Thief. Sorry. :(
