Like most things, the new CD by System of a Down has been leaked.

Nooooooo

Dont really care as long as i can still buy it Monday

I've had a chance to listen to it. I give it a thumbs up. I'm gonna be buying it by the way.

Hopefully its good - Ive heard its great and another one to come but "Steal theis album" was a bit disappointing to be honest...Never heard their first album actually - If only i had money in order to buy all the cds i want!

Their first album was mind blowingly heavy to me when i first got it, so powerful and humerous as well, i absolutley love Toxicity-awesome. Haven't got or listened to Steal this Album, oh well just cant wait for Mesmerise

Trust me they don't drop the weird with this CD. The guitar riffs are very catchy and they use more of the back up singer I believe. The songs Holy Mountain and Kill Rock n' Roll aren't on this CD. It seems a bit more "heavy" than their last CD. I didn't really get to listen to it long enough to get much info on it but I've heard every song and it seems good to me.

Cool, was def getting it monday but now someone else has heard it and given their opionion im even more excited, thanks goes to Pressure

Think toxicity was a great album anyway! was catchy guitar riffs in "steal this album" but the songs seemed a little too "samey" (see i can make up words too!). One of the things i loved about Toxicity was that the songs were quite diverse and always interesting.

My favourite song on Toxicity is Arials, kick serious ass does that song

Song list:

1. Soldier Side (Intro)
2. B.Y.O.B.
3. Revenga
4. Cigaro
5. Radio Video
6. This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song
7. Violent Pornography
8. Question!
9. Sad Statue
10. Old School Hollywood
11. Lost In Hollywood

It's like someone took The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Beastie Boys and Metallica, created a 50ft super mutant from their collective DNA, and then went on a murderous rampage through LA while screaming "theresnothingwrongwithyoutheressomethingwrongme oldschoolhollywoodbaseball!!!" before taking an enormous dump on SOAD's other albums and subsequently imploding.

Like, woah man.

And this is just the first half. :x

 woah indeed.

Don't comment on my reviewing skills I know i r teh suk lol.

Here's a craptastic review:

1. Soldier Side (Intro) (1:07) - A short intro to the CD. This a slowly played song and the vocals are done by their main singer in a soothing voice. The lyrics are nothing complex:

Welcome to the Soldier Side,
where there's no one here but me.
People all grow up to die,
there is no one here but me.

Those are the entire lyrics to the song.

2. B.Y.O.B. (4:19) - This is the same as the one they released early in March, nothing has changed. The song starts out fast and chaotic and becomes more melodic when it reaches the chorus. It bursts inbetween these two styles.

3. Revenga (3:52) - This song starts out with a tripletesque style of guitar playing. The song is sung by both the main singer and the back up singer at the same time. The singing is fast and the guitar riffs are heavy. Towards the end the song begins the slow down.

4. Cigaro (2:15) - Also the same as the song released earlier this year. This song has strange lyrics that shouldn't be taken literally because they have more meaning to them.

5. Radio Video (4:13) - This song starts out with a nice little guitar riff. Then it turns to a more heavy distorted riff. After the heavy riff this song have a very unique sound to it. The lead singer and back up switch between the lead when singing.

6. This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song (2:12) - This song have fast vocals backed by heavy guitar riffs. I believe I hear a piano playing in the background also.

7. Violent Pornography (3:35) - Interesting song to say the least. This song starts out with almost no guitar and both singers singing. Then it hits a heavy guitar riff where only the lead singer sings. It switches between these two styles, then you're hit with a melodic guitar riff and singing a few times throughout the song. The lyrics are about what's on TV today and how it's brainwashing.

8. Question! (3:24) - This song starts with an acoustic intro then heads into heavy guitar riffs then back to acoustic. This song reminds me of a kind of hispanic song with the style of acoustic used and the clapping in the background. The chorus is backed by the heavy guitar riffs. He sings in a kind of soothing voice during this song. Towards the end the playing gets fast and then he starts screaming and both singers start singing.

9. Sad Statue (3:30) - This song is very catchy in my opinion. During the chorus the lyrics sung are:

You and me will all go down in history
with a Sad Statue of Liberty
and a generation that didn't agree

This song has some heavy guitar riffs mixed with melodic singing.

10. Old School Hollywood (3:01) - Probably the strangest song on the entire CD because I don't think they've used this kind of stuff in a song before. It has the the lead and back up singers switching again. They have a "robotic voice" singing in the background at times. It's just strange and they keep talking about Old School Hollywood baseball.

11. Lost In Hollywood (5:22) - This is the outro song to the CD and it has an acoutsic sound to it. This song is talking about how, "you should have never trusted Hollywood." I like this song and I feel it was a good soft song to end the CD on.

hehe I downloaded most tracks a week ago, although I didn't download revenga, lost in hollywood, or old school hollywood, that way I could have somethign fresh when I buy it. I love it.

And kageprototype, are we to take that as a good thing or a bad thing :)

BTW the song old school hollywood, is about a "celebrity" baseball charity game, that daron's (guitar player) agent signed him up for. And when he got there all the "celebrities" were old washed up tv and movie stars, and no one knew him and he was out of place, and everyone treated him like shit.

At least this go around, it seems as though they varied up the style quiet a bit. I am probably the biggest system of a down fan, but even i'll admit that toxicity tracks all ran together at times. Although I loved them all, they did sound very similar in structure, and tone.

This go around however, everything sounds extremely unique and very much still system. I love this album so far and am very much anticipating Hypnotize later this year.

I think you best rethink what I meant.

When you said it took a shit on all their previous albums that's when I thought you meant it was a bad thing.

this album should make anyone from a reggae, heavy metal, speed metal, hard rock, disco, fan happy lol

hmmm, maybe intentional, who knows, but slipknot ripped of a system song (it was the last single they had i think) and they didn't bother to change the tempo or nothing during the stolen riff lol

Nice and vague there.
This band ripped off some other band with this riff near the part with the other bit.
Yeah...
Accusing another band of ripping off SOAD doesn't make them innocent btw...
Zerimski, what Biffy song?

I never said they were innocent, I even said they may have intentionaly done it who knows... But I mentioned slipknot ripping them to contrast and show that almost every band at some time or another takes something from another band... Its sad, but thats the way it is, there are only so many good sounding musical compilations of power cords one can make, and eventually your giong to have to borrow and recycle.

Either recycle or get mind blowingly creative. You could create music so awesome that it punches them in the face and they think, "Holy shit! I've never heard anything so ****ing amazing in my entire life!"

I just got the album and am on Track 3:Revenga, it is already a fricken awesome album, congratulations to SOAD

Violent Pornography rocks my world.

Choking chicks and sodomy.
Think that might be my favourite track. But there's so many good tracks! :rolling:

Damnit, every song I hear grows on me.
Everybody should get this album, its feckin' brilliant.

BYOB was a good song until i paid attention to the lyrics.

All I can say is I love System of a Down ever since Chop Suey and they always can make me smile!

[Serj whispering]
Hey man look at me rockin out,
I'm on the RADIO!!!!!!!
Hey man look at me rockin out,
I'm on the VIDEO!!!!!!!
With Danny and Lisa.

I laughed at the Radio/Video song because I knew if I was a famous band and I heard myself on the radio with friends around I'd be like, "Shit yeah, listen to me rockin out on the radio." because I use the term rockin out a lot.

I just got this CD and am in the process of absorbing it right now. I was always a mild System of a Down fan, but this masterpiece of an album might have pushed me over the edge of sheer adulation. I love the new melodic style combined with the still potent hard rock foundation.

And yes, Violent Pornography fried my brain just like that old commercial where they showed frying eggs as a metaphor for being on drugs.

I love the melodic parts of the songs. You don't hear that much in rock music.

I use to be a big System fan but I have developed a love for the METAL over the years and grew apart from them. They are to pop-culture now.

The more i listen to this album the more it grows on me, i am loving it and can't wait for Hypnotize later this year
