Well, I now have completed the game, fyi. I thought it was the was really good. However, it still leaves me thinking, I am not speaking of the cliff hanger. Half-Life was the first mp game that I played, or counter-strike to be specific. That was about 5 years ago or so... Don't get me wrong, I believe Half-Life 2's graphics and source engine is almost as revolutionary as Half-Life was but there still feels like there is something big missing. By that I don't necessarily the multiplayer though. It just feels leaves me feeling rather empty. I didn't mind the cliff hanger the game ended pretty much the same way the first one did but... To kind of describe it the first half-life when you played it felt like even after the single play there still was tons to do. I believe this because of all the official expansion packs, ect. But this time around after playing it it just feels like... well... there is nothing left to do. This leaves me curious if Half-Life 2 will end up having the same "replayability" as the first one. Now I didn't play Half-Life for 5 years straight it was on and off every now and then but when I look back it feels like Half-Life provided you with a whole "life-style". Does anyone feel the same way? I know Half-Life 2's mp is Counter-Strike: Source, but I am rather sick of Counter-Strike. If you play for a long time it just feels like the game has no objectives in it, it seems rather repetitive. Another thing to add is that I felt the game wasn't as good as it could have been. I was expecting a few more weapons from what I have seen. I know if you take what Half-Life 2 is about and not what it isn't you'll have a great time but I seriously felt if I just had those 3 missing weapons the game would feel complete, even if the weapons did the same things. I am speaking of the OICW, egon or whatever that gun that shoots a forcefull energy line at an enemy, and the iceaxe. I am hoping that Half-Life 2 will have OFFICIAL expansion packs besides TF2 and DOD: S. Opposing Force was pretty good. I liked its multiplaer. Does anyone, if they were around the beginning of the first Half-Life, think that Half-Life 2 will eventually provide us with a new "life-style", so to speak. By that I mean do you think any good multiplayer games will be released that will not get repetative or am I am trouble and there won't be any revolutionary multiplayers as a result I probably not play Half-Life 2 the way I wanted to. I Half-Life DM would have been fine, I don't enjoy play unofficial mods because the communities are usually small and players are constantly leaving. It would be nice if Gearbox comes along and makes say a "Opposing Force 2", if possible, and releases a mp. I still can't believe that Valve didn't release a multiplayer it seriously doesn't make any sense. All they would have had to do is create a Gordon model add in a little bit of code for "changing colors" and they would have a DM since most of the netcode is there. Someone should try to get a full answer out of Valve. I mean it wouldn't have taken that much more effort to make one, so is it either they don't want to take the responsibility of maintaining it or they a revolutionary mod stashed away or in the works from what I have seen from past posts or rumors.
I apologize for the long post, I don't know if I could have communicated that in a shorter way.
