I saw this card:

MSI GeForce FX5200-T128 128MB DDR TV Out

And its only 59 quid, is that right ? lol
And is it a decent card for running games ? ie: half-life ?

It's awful, just about equal to a GeForce 4 MX.

lol...and me thinking it was a really speedy GF FX

The speedy FX cards are the 5800 and 5900.

a GeForce ti4200 is a faster card than that pile of poop.

Well, i'd recommend buying tnhat if you dont ahve much money and you want to upgrade from a GF2 class of card. This card is jsut a little but worse, gaming wise, than the Gf4 Ti-4200, but it runs Dx9, so thats a bonus, and it is cheaper than a Ti-4200. if you have a GF2 or equivlent card, i'd reccoment buying this.

Considering it runs on par with a GeForce 2, I'd say buying one would be a very bad idea.

where did you get your info? it runs almost on par with a GF4 Ti-4200, which is alot better than a Gf2.

Pick some better tests to show us with it. Notice that in the last one the ti4200 beats it FPS wise?

Key word, ALMOST.

Fine, maybe I was slightly wrong, but still.. if it runs almost on par with a GeForce 4 Ti 4200, it'd be closer to a GeForce 3.

Not worth the cash, in my opinion.. and I'm guessing the whole point of this thread is to buy a card for HL2, and a card like that just won't suffice well enough.

It's DX9 compliant yes, but all to weak to fully use it. It's in simple words, worthless.

if you dont have much money and you have a GF2 or lower (and equivelent cards) it's well worth the 65$ to upgrade.

But not for Half-Life 2!

just upgrade to a radeon 9700 pro or higher and you are sure everything looks good.

I dont think waiting untill september and then upgrade will do any good. okey.. the Athlon 64 is released in sptember.. but only available untill christmass.. and untill then there wont be any new and exiting product's.

i htink clawhammer is gonna miss that release date....

but if HL2 can run on a Dx6 card, it will run very well on a FX5200. jsut not as well as with a real card.

For a card that averages 52~ FPS at 1024*768 resolution with no AA or AF on UT2003, I really don't think it's going to run HL2 well, do you?

The GF FX 5200 is a waste of a perfectly good AGP slot. You'd be better off, if you need to be cheap, with a Radeon 9100 / 9500 non-pro.

If you can afford to spend more, a GeForce FX 5600 Ultra or a Radeon 9500 Pro are worth the money.
