First off I have a wireless connection, and the name of my wireless card is at the bottom of this post.

There is something very strange going on, I have no idea why this is happening to me either.

My ping to everywhere is TERRIBLE, even on google i'm getting an average of 300 ping, and a maximum of 600 ping. What gives man? This computer was even reformatted, not even 24 hours ago.

I'm certain it's not a virus, and i'm also certain it's not spyware.

And it's just me, I went to the computer in the other room and it's averaging 40-50 ping everywhere, and my dad (who also has wireless on his laptop) is getting 40-50 ping everywhere as well..

What the hell, I can't play Warcraft 3, or Counter-Strike cause of these terrible pings and lag. Please i'm begging for help, this is really starting to piss me off.

Things i've tryed :
reseting the wireless router
reseting the modem
threatening my dad to do something about this (he has no clue why it's going on)

Hardware :
AMD Athlon 2500+ XP mobile (overclocked to 2.4 gig, 392 FSB)
Abit NF7-S Revision 2.0 nForce 2 Ultra Chipshet
Corsair XMS 512mb pc3200
Volcanno 12 HSF
Antec case /w 400 watt PSU
D-Link Air DWL-520 Wireless PCI Adapter(rev.E)

Ya that is a horrible ping I average 40 when im pinging google.

Have you downloaded all of the microsoft updates maybee?
If you have a firewall on try turning that off and ping google again and see if there is a difference.
It could also be that you didnt install the drivers for your ethernet card right. If its built into your motherboard you would have gotten a disk with the mobo with ethernet drivers on it.

What OS do you have?

oh, and RTFM :p

(sorry, but too good to miss that one when you have a name like that :P sorry hehe)

Do you have SP2 installed or any type of firewall enabled?

Also do you have anything that can be causing interference with your signal (like microwaves and cordless phones)?

could be your onboard NIC going bad. my friends' nf7-s had a defective onboard lan after there first 2 hours of installing it, it did strange things like it would work, but wouldn't work well. very spotty, so you might want to try and pick up a cheap NIC and try that.

OR try a different cat-5 cable.

Fixed.

I was toying around in the config and found a drop down box "Power mode" switched it from "on" to "off" and now I get my usual pings :)

I STILL HATE WIRELESS!!!!

yea man, thats very good. i get a steady 19ms to google
