(Spoilers)
This is my personal view on Half Life3.
You start of with the organic gravity gun from the end of Half Life 2. This is because you didn’t have any other weapon’s with you at the end of Half Life 2 and would be very cool to start of with.
Maybe the interaction with enemies is greater: you can hit them with a crowbar and it actually cuts into their flesh etc.
I personally think HL2 was just the set up for an all-new genre of Half Life. I think that after the cascade at the end of HL2 that just increased the Combine to bring in an all-new mighty enemy. I think the G-Man keeps you in the time portal until the combine bring down these new menaces from another planet or time in Life. The combine have now replaced most (if not all) of earths air with breathable gas for the new enemy and the combine themselves. This also means the combine can happily take those masks of their heads and we can see their ugly faces!
After the new enemy (probably huge crawling beasts) approach earth and deal with the humans (utterly seeking to destroy them), the G-Man casts you from your portal and into the outskirts of the enemy territory. Now the sea has been drained from the oceans (maybe because the combine and new enemy have a weak spot from water, noticed how combine were never in water or for that matter near it… unless I am mistaken in HL2). As I was saying the oceans have been drained so now there is new room for the enemy. You start of in an all-new environment. (Could be anywhere on the earth, you can decide). You have a gas mask on to breath oxygen.
As for Alyx and Eli etc I suspect they were taken by the G-Man aswell. Or another theory I cannot be bothered to think up. So when you are planted on the outskirts of this new environment you make your way deep into the place? On the way you pass humans now locked up in cells and being slaved and ‘used’ and even tested on. The combine are not seen yet…
As for the rest of the theory I cannot tell or will tell in another thread later some time. So what do you think????
