I think Half-Life 3 will take on the role of large-scale battles. It’s a serious thought of mine and fans of HL. Because we took to large-scale battles very pleasingly and I think Valve took a serious note on this. Large scale battles where the human forces (maybe mixed with xen creatures or alike) storming in on the enemy. There would be many opportunities. Remember Valve take everything 1 or 2 or even 3 steps further in their sequels.
Weapons: More weapons; different weapons; super weapons. Face it. In HL2 the weapons were brilliant, but there were not enough. In HL3 this is going to change. But it will change in a different way. Maybe as only an idea of mine, I think a single weapon as players we will be able to change and add or remove components from it.
Imagine a single-handed pistol. Fires single rounded shots. You pick up a booster. The pistol now has an increased rate of fire and an ability to track enemy like a heat seeking missile. Completely absurd, but completely fun.
OK, we all enjoyed the gravity gun didn’t we? I’m thinking how they could improve on everything based on it. I think just like my idea on the weapons, you will be able to adjust the gravity pull on it. And/or change it to pull different materials. Maybe it could have new functions: suck, blow or even create a force field, which prevents enemy from moving onto you (or even let them move at all).
Imagine having the gravity pull at full. And pulling a can to fire at someone. When you fire it, it would blow straight through the enemy and even the wall on the other side! This will create new opportunities. If you don’t want to create distraction by blowing a hole in the wall, you simply lower the gravity pull. Ingenious!
As I have said before, voice communication. You speak out aloud in game, using a microphone (or dialogue from the game), and using this. You can put across your thoughts. As well you can also give orders. Not follow or attack, but enter that building, fire from that window. Or go and get that weapon for me! Which I like a lot.
Teleportation. A device that allows you to teleport. But only on certain surfaces or areas to prevent complete chaos in the game. Imagine firing at the enemy, from behind a wall. You pin point a location just behind the enemy and warp there. Hehe, staring at the long line of them firing at a blank wall, you kill them all without any attention being raised. Hehe.
Also, maybe somehow put into the role of teleportation, can be ‘second humanisation’. As I like to call it. But anyway, this allows you to teleport and at the same time leaves a fake image of you behind. Again you warp behind the enemy. You control your fake image and get it to move away. As it moves away, the enemy move in closer. Heres the opportunity. As they move away, you are free to press a switch un-guarded, which puts the enemy into their own trap! I love this idea especially J.
Anyway, I hope you like my first batch of ideas.
