ok i was just wondering what MOD stands for,

ive just never ever been bothered to find out before,

mods pls delete this after i find out

Mod=modification

It can mean a small modification to change all the combines to chickens or a totally differant game (called a total conversion) that changes weapons, models, maps etc

A MOD is just modifying the original game, it can be something as small as changing someone's eye colour to completely changing all maps and everything.

ok thanks, justwondering what the term meant, even though i have MANY MODS!

yeah, technically changing a sprite or a sound is a mod, but generally when we think of mods we think of large conversion projects to add significant new features or styles of gameplay to the game.

You used the word "mod" twice in your original post.

mod isnt a word....................its a term.

Of course it's a word. Sure it's a shortened word and part of a specific jargon, but it's still a word. Would you say "lab" is not a word but just a "term" for the word "laboratory"?

well then, smoke, why don't you tell me what you think is needed for a sequence of phonemes to make it a word? being listed in a dictionary? well, let's see

From WordNet (r) 2.0 [wn]:

lab
n : a workplace for the conduct of scientific research [syn: {laboratory},
{research lab}, {research laboratory}, {science lab}, {science
laboratory}]

Apparently, it's also a verb :)

From Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) [web1913]:

Lab \Lab\, v. i. [Cf. OD. labben to babble.]
To prate; to gossip; to babble; to blab. [Obs.] --Chaucer.

Oh yeah, there are certainly more abbreviations. The English language loves abbreviations. How about "butt" for "buttocks"? Is that not a word?

"Vet" for "veterinarian" or "veteran"?
"Coke" for the globally known beverage (or the white powder)?

zet...............go................away...........
