Alright, I need something to do. I am bored. I know how to program C++ and Java to AN EXTENT, I dont claim to be an expert on it and I dont get much practice, but I know the basics pretty well.

What I would really like is to work on a mod or something with another proggramer or proggramers that really know thier stuff that I can ask questions/get helpfull advice.

If anyone is interested I can post some of my work, I would have to dig it up.

Just open up a fresh install, and start coding. Its the best way to get better, and eventually you'll feel the need to make a mod. If you get stuck and need advice, feel free to PM me.

Yeah do what the lawyer said--open a fresh install (mod) and start toying with the default parameters of the single player component from Half-Life 2. Perhaps you can change the damage from the shotty to something stronger and more fierce or perhaps change how the physics react to certain bullet calibers. I didn't know shit about programming but found myself messing around with lines of code and coming up with some interesting things.

Do you need special programs to play around with code, or is it a notepad type deal?

I use microsoft .net. I would suggest getting that.

Then getting

I heard its good. Havn't tried it myself though. Does anyone else use it?

Wow, .NET is free, and I apparently already have half of it installed(?). I am getting the SDK now and will soon be confusing myself and messing with HL2 code. :O

Wow, thread derailment. If I were working on a mod of any sort, I would recruit you, Puz. :(

Edit: Wowzers Microsoft has fast servers. To begin with my DL started at over 2000kbps, but has now settled down to just over 350kbps.

That was useless info.

if ur downloaded 2005 as 2003 isnt free you will have some problems.

puzzle, we're friends so help me out :D Angry Lawyer's coding for mine at the moment and he'd be happy to delegate tasks, and I can use all the help I can get. I'll talk to you on AIM at some point, im at school right now
