My laptop has decided to break after 3 years of usage, so I'm required to get new one mostly because of me starting University next year. My price limit is 400 pounds, so I'm not looking for a particularly powerful one by today standards but I'm hoping it would be able to run minecraft and older less intensive games.

Any recommendations for laptops or websites to buy them off would be great! Cheers.

My knowledge of UK based vendors is limited these days but I recommend Lenovo, Asus and Toshiba for ~400£ range. Great build quality and component/price ratio on those brands.

I've had a lot of customers with issues with Toshiba. Just sayin'. I'd replace them with HP in the previous list and call it good.

Guess it depends on the model, HP tends to ship with bullshit proprietary windows with ads and programs that just clog up memory, also a pre-partitioned OS and no recovery disks. With any of them I'd suggest a cooling pad.

Asus isn't the cheapest, but they make some seriously grade-A hardware.
