new side kick

Adrian Sheppard quite obviously. You guys are so dumb.

edit: I like to smell paint.

edit 2: I told my mom to drop me when I was a fetus. She punched me in the nuts instead.

Maybe some unknown? Like some ex-SAS rupert or Green Beret who has been keeping things in check outside the city, from what Ive seen from the vids there are a lot of people out there aswell as lots of buildings ect, they are going to need someone with a forces background to do the logistics ect.

A new side kick makes no sense. Valve have spent two games fleshing out the current characters, why kill them off now?

Well, Alyx doesn't have to die. She might just be unconscious, or gone off on some mission.

I'm glad to see that my thread has gotton so popular:thumbs:

I have changed my answer to either Barney or Shepard.

Hmm...maybe we'll go to the combine homeworld in episode 3 and team up with breen if he's still alive. That would be an interesting twist.

But I think valve should let us go episode 2 alone. Like most of HL2 was.

I think the likelihood of visiting anywhere remotely Combine-homeworld type is in the episode trilogy is very, very slim.

Visiting the Combine world, well...sucks. Xen was fine, but to do it two games in a row? Its kinda, scratch that, very cheesy.
Besides, I doubt they have a proper "homeworld" per se, as they live on al kinds of seperate planets.

Theoretically, since the Combine rather suck at portal technology. All we would need to do is block them from teleporting back to Earth. Destroying the Citadel in City 17 is a start (it was the main base of operations for the administration on Earth afterall). A theory is that if the resistance can somehow remove the remaining Citadels/teleporters and erase Earth's location, it would be near to impossible for the Combine to find them again.

What this may involve is Gordon using one of their String based portals to go directly from point A to point B and into the source of the Combine world. Although destroying the technology from that end is likely to maroon Gordon (and anyone else who decides to join him), preventing a return to Earth.

...or something of that degree.

Replying to the thread topic: Nobody else. Alyx's character has been designed for co-op... she isn't annoying and she has real depth. I would get annoyed by another character such as barney in certain situations.

Pretty much...yes. Destroying the C17 Citadel shut down the entire system, so for the time being, the Combine on Earth are stranded. Like you said, its a start. Destroying each and every Citadel on the planet is impractical, and isn't going to happen. So I assume this 'Project' is somehow a means of blocking the Combines tunneling systems...or something to that affect.

I doubt the resistance would be able to pinpoint the exact location of the Combine homeworld though, and to be honest, they simply don't have a teleporter capable of doing that.

Barney became my #1 choice back when I was playing Half-Life. Imagine this:

In the level (I think) where you get the Egon (a.k.a. "gluon gun"), I was running around the level with a Barney, I came around the corner to find one of those big beegun soldiers, whom I quickly dispatched. Barney then proceeded to sprint around the corner afterward, unload his clip into the corpse, then actually has the audacity to shout "Got one!" Barney is a man's man, claiming credit for everything he can. And quite frankly, he deserves it. Even if he doesn't deserve it.

"Yeah, Barney, that's right ... you got him good."

How insane would it be to have Gman as a sidekick. I would lmfao at the sight of gman shooting that gun in his brief case in a business like way. And throw some pencils. All he has in there is a glock 3 pencils and a computer. But still that would be sweet to have him actually using that power of his instead of just watching the show.
