This message is directed to all of the people who have been criticizing the newly-released Half-Life video that is available via "Steam." I am going to have to respectfully disagree with your viewpoints, because, IMO, Half-Life 2 is shaping up to be the most graphically realistic game in PC history. The facial expressions that are available with the Source engine are simply unbelievable - there is no other word to describe them. The G-Man could not have been designed any better, either. Anyone who has ever played the original Half-Life series would not need someone else to tell them this.
Honestly, I don't know what some of you are expecting from Half-Life 2. Valve has clearly put a lot of time and effort into developing this game, and I think that we should not nit-pik it to death before any of us have had the opportunity to experience it firsthand. From what I have seen thus far, Half-Life 2 will exceed my expectations - and this is no small feat for any game company, let alone one as small as Valve.
The PC gaming industry is moving into a new era - Valve's Source engine is virtually guaranteed to spur competition, and other developers will be scurring to play catch-up. I hope that those of you who were fans of the original Half-Life series will put aside whatever preconceptions you have about Half-Life 2, and just buy the game. You will. And you'll play it. And guess what???

You'll like it.

Regards,
Kevin

Who exactly is criticizing? I haven't seen any negative post's yet...

I know, I just wanted to see some goddamn gameplay. Now that's[Gameplay] what was astonishing.

I didn't care for the jaggies. Should have turned on AA. Other than that, good stuff that video.

Yeah, I'm not sure what people are expecting here. I mean, Jesus Christ, the game is NOT going to have picture perfect graphics. There will be graphics limitations and you WILL see imperfections in the game. The game isn't lightyears ahead of it's time, but it does look GOOD. Better then any other game out there, for that matter, and any other game due out anytime soon. This game is advanced, but it will not simulate real life. It will not do your dishes. It will not feed your dog. Deal with the fact that it's just a game and not real life.

I'm really confused as to why some people thought it'd be the most perfect game ever with photorealistic graphics. That's not possible yet.

I think AA was not turned on to show this is realtime and not prerendered. Also the most players have not the possibility to turn AA on and get decent framerates, so this looks more like they will get to see when they're running HL² on their computers.
