No "handle" to open gate at Route kanal end - PLZ help

PLZ - I can't find the "thing" or "handle" to open the gate - look at the attached pic - Is this a BUG in the Game - what is wrong ?

go to a previous save...theres a bug for ya. and try to heal yourself, that place ahead is deadly But yeah, its a bug, just retry it

have you tried 'using' the spot where there should be a 'thing'?

speaking of route kanal, how do you pass the point where you are in the place with the circular knob that you turn and the water level rises? after that happened i went down but i couldn't find an entrance. I went out and those helicopter bug attacking thingies attacked me. How do I pass that?

go back into the main room. Where the ladder is, climb down (under the big grate in the floor). There is a huge pipe in there, swim through it.

After doing that, to get out of the next room (which may be where your stuck):

Swim down and crowbar the boards that are holding all the floaties down.
