People over at the Oblivion forums are raving about 10-15 fps increases with one simple tweak. The info is all here: http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=282064. To install coolbits, go here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=815. Extract the file, and double click on the registry entry. Having done this, go to your card control panel, click on Advanced Direct3D, and set the number of frames to render ahead to 0.

Unfortunately, this didn't do anything for me, on a GeForce 6800 Go Ultra. But I figured so many people are ecstatic, it's worth it for you guys to give it a shot. If you do get a noticible increase, let me know exactly what you did so I can figure out if I'm doing anything wrong.

someone mentioned they had a huge improvement on the same card I have so I'll try this tonight ..thanks for the tip :)

Wow, look at some of those replies. About 10 people have registered just to say how good it is!

I don't have TES4 but I'm ready now. :D

ARGH it is making me so excited.

Dear Superman,

please show me the way to do something similar with ATI cards and I'll build 20 temples in your honour

thanking you

yep I tried it, the performance jumps at least %20.... the lag is gone and the graphics is really smooth outside, my mouse lag is gone too.

edit: I m using two BFG 7800GTX with FX60 + 2GB OCZ4000EB @ 250MHz = 3dmark06 is 8157

What are your system specs, drivers, and other relevant settings in your game and control panel? I'd like to iron out why this works for some people and does nothing for others. :(

Is this a fix that is supposed to work with other games too or just oblivion?

should the driver work on a 64 bit HD?
*edit*

Gah thats a bunch of BS, the driver wont work because it says that it only works on 32bit.

mhm....I kinda think why this gives a boost, its like when to you pla UT2004 and turn off "preload skins" that gives a boost as well.thx man

Im using:

1-windows 64bit + nvidia 84.21
2-Under Additional Direct3d setting the number is set to 0 (only for this game)
3-All other options for this game is application controled
4-I have HDR on + V-sync + 1280 res + Triple Buffer is ON + SLI profile is Default

yeah by the way, I heard 84.25 decreases your fps by 3-5 in this game.

edit: the image quality is set to high

hey,I was wondering if 64bit XP is really faster with games? can you send me a pm and tell me about it plz?

Only with 64bit games, the benchmarks I have seen show all 32bit software decrease in performance because they have to run through an emulator. The compatability is restriciting, not worth the effort in my opinion.

My system specs:

3.2 P4
2GB (2x1GB) sticks of Dual-Channel Corsair RAM
BFG 6800 Ultra OC

My settings:

All high, draw distance full and 2xAA. Shadows and VSync turned off.

Before tweak: Smoothish, fps ranging from 50-60 indoors and 25-35 outdoors.
After tweak: Smoother than a baby's ass. If you use an NVidia card, this tweak is for you.

anyone know? only ive already installed it and the new nvid driver. Was wondering if it was worth it for other games too.

I did get a slight performance boost. Maybe 5 FPS.

I got a geforce fx 5600, anyone know how to get on it so I can activate the direct 3d thing and set the thing to 0?
I really need to find this out, my game lags.

Do you need 84.25 drivers for this tweak?
