Is it worth doing anything else but going for the Sigil Stone while in the Oblivion Planes? You can't get any good loot off the creatures there, there are no chests etc., so I thought that maybe it'll be best to just go invisible and run for the Stone to close the Gate ASAP.

What do you think?

Whilst you are there, you might as well collect the blood grass, you will need this ingredients if you ever have vampirism. Stash it away just in case

Bloodgrass is everywhere on the oblivion planes - all you have to do is find a gate & step inside for about 10 sec, grab some & then walk out.

Other than that, I haven't found much of a reason to explore oblivion planes. I've fully explored about 8-12 so far & decided that it's just easier to go straight for the sigil stone. Rare loot is just as likely in any other part of the game & all the oblivion planes look essentailly the same to me.

if you search the fleshy pods in 'the bowels' of some planes you can find some nice loot, also in the deadra tower itself i tend to find lotsa cool enchanted weapons and potions etc, i never bother fighting in the tower, i just run to the sigil stone tbh :P

Is it necessary to close all the Gates to complete the main quest? How many are there? Will it be a frustrating search for the remaining Gates at one point of the game?

They all seem to open up near cities, so Iwouldn't worry about having to search too hard for all of them.

There are sixteen, I believe.

No no. There are 16 Daedric lords, not 16 portals total.

Ah. it had said each ruled a plane of oblivion, so I was just speculating.

Ive heard of people closing over 24 and I myself have seen more than 16. I think it's probably around 50.

Um, I know that at least in the Chorral gate there is a leaning tower that you access through a secret tunnel that has some awesome levelled Weapons of Hate, so there are probably more places like that given the number of portals there are....

Ingame I believe there are fifty portals, to complete the main quest you only have to close about 10 of those I believe. I'd go ahead and close all the portals by major cities and just ignore ones out in the country side, unless you absolutely have to close every single one.

Fifty? Holy shit, I have a lot of closing to do :D

And, while for the most part there's not much to find, in some cases you get exceptional stuff from exploring. Half an hour ago, I was looking around and found a high-level Dremora warrior. Killed him, and found 2 rings- one which gave +10 to agility, and another that gave +20 to speed.

Of course, I'm maxed out on both stats, but still, that's pretty sick.

Download leveling mods, they allow you to go past the 100 cap. I'm sitting at a comfortable 120 endurance right now :)

I found a +10 ring to all stats in one "punished" pod, was well worth the trip to the top of the tower I say, although after a while the planes become a chore.

I've got my Intelligence above 100 without any mods. I think it's something like 95, plus the bonus I get from my armor (a ring or neclace, I don't remember). So that is possible.

I thought it wasn't possible to go above the caps, or was it just the birthsigns that don't count past 100. Hmm I'll have to check the readme again hehe.

Yeah, I have gone above 100 with magical help from enchantments on armor and such, so it is possible, though not permanent I don't think (i.e. if you remove your armor or whatever, your stats will only be 100).

A ring of +10 to everything?? That must be that elusive Ring of Perfection I have been dying to get my hands on!! Damn this randomness!!

Most of my armor is enchanted with strength, I currently have 147 strength. (97 without armor)

I'm 100% resistant to magic (50% as a Breton and 50% due to a ring I think)! So whenever someone throws a fireball at me, tries to strike me with lightning etc. I take it all on me and absorb the magicka from it to reinforce my amount of magicka :)

:O YOU FOUND THE RING OF PERFECTION!?
Holy shit! Lucky bastard...

Hehe, guess what I found a few hours later, after reading your and VictimofScience's post? :D

I wasn't sure which of the two other rings I was using should I replace with it:

Mundane Ring - 50% resistance to Magic, 35% reflect spell (I'm not sure of the 2nd one)

Ring of [whatever :P] - 13pts fortify blade, 13pts fortify block.

I decided to leave the Mundane Ring on, since I like being 100% resistant (I was already 50% as a Breton) to magic ;)

BTW I'm wondering whether to finally enchant my armor, and if so, with what? I've only got a Helmet of the Mind, the rest is unenchanted. I had a Glass Cuirass 30% chameleon, but I didn't actually see any advantage, so I decided to wear a normal one, since I prefer to see my weapon etc. I was also thinking which option to use out of one of my Sigil Stones - fortify 50pts magicka or absorb 50pts magicka on strike. The former will only reinforce my magicka with 50pts and it will be constant, while the latter will give me 50pts magicka with each strike, but then again I would have to reload the weapon with souls so I dunno.

Enchant it all with Shield 10%, you'll be unstoppable.

I have a ring which is 100% resist poison, 100% resist disease & 100% resist paralyze. Actually, I now have 2.

I love the Oblivion planes. Sky starts turning red when roaming the country? Woohoo! It's off to knocking gremlins into the lava, dodging daedric warriors, stealing their hearts, scaling the tower and removing the stone. Then watching as everyone is engulfed in flame, and I manage to teleport back in one piece. Whilst everyone else is burnt and taken out with the tower.

Oblivion planes. <3

Wait up... what level are you, Unfocused?

I've got like 10 rings and it seems you can't find the same ring twice (at least I haven't), so maybe you just have to keep collecting them and will finally find the Ring of Perfection?

Who needs resistance or armor? Enchant all your armor to have chameleon. With 100%, you're pretty much invisable to everything.

I agree, you have 10 fingers, so I don't see why it is limited to only 2. Naturally, if I actually got a mod where you could wear 10 rings, I would ascend from the real of godly character to something unimaginably powerful. I have three +20 Strenth, and a couple of rings that give +10 to a lot of stats. Even enchanting 10 rings with +10 strenght would give me 100 plus points in strenght.

Meh, the game wouldn't be fun anymore as there would be no challenge. Or it could be fun but for 30 minutes and that would be it :P

Yeah, I agree. I have like a billion rings, but none as good as the ones you guys described. Maybe soon :D

Actually my most expensive ring is the Mundane Ring - 21k, while the Ring of Perfection is I think 8k.

Worth noting is that the sigil stones are randomly generated, so do what I do, save after you've cleared out the sigil stone room, and reload til you get one you want, I got one that gave me like 80 feather.:)

Yeah, there's 150 variations of them as well, so you're bound to get something decent eventually.

Feather rings I find kinda useless, at least for a mage. I have a feather spell that gives me 250 feather for 2 minutes. I add that to a fortify strenth (+20) spell and I can loot the entire dungeon in one go. Naturally I have to kill everything before I start casting those spells, as they do take quite a lot of MP.

Thanks, I didn't know that

I never actually got what sigil stones do. I have one in my inventory, but it's just sitting there doing nothing.

Gah! Use it immediately - it's a free powerful weapon or armour enchantment. The description box next to it describes what you can enchant the item with. The Transdescendant Sigil stones are far more powerful than any Grand Soul Gem enchantment.

Heh, I just used one fortifying 12 intelligence on my gauntlets, but it's actually the only one out of 7 stones that I used. I really got some issues, thinking that maybe I'll find a sigils stone better then the one I have and that way waste my armor by enchanting it with a weaker one :P. Oh well, now glass armor is quite common for me so I can always get myself a new one ;)

Since we're talking about enchantments etc. I've got a question regarding Azura's Star [so minor spoiler below]:

When I capture souls in the Star and then recharge a weapon with it, the Star doesn't disappear. Is the number of recharges using the Star unlimited, or will it eventually disappear? And what's the max soul level in the Azura's Star? If I have the soul level at "greater", I need to capture a small soul in order to max it out, yes?

I'll do just that. I've 10! :E
