i just formatted my computer and all of my hl2 save files are gone!!! i was at Follow Freeman, so can someone please tell me a command or something to get me back to that level?! i havent even beaten the game yet. almost there though.

changelevel XXX and look threw what it says in that list...and pick whichever one you want. not exactly sure which it is..but the list has every location lol

There's a command to get back to specific maps, but you won't have the same guns and ammount of ammo.

I'm no pro when it comes to the console commands, but I think your best bet will be changing to the last map you played and spawning all the guns that you had. I think that would work. I'm unsure of the commands, however. Sorry.

I'm sure someone will come along who can help you out. Maybe they even have a save file to send to you. G'luck.

I don't think that works unless you've already been there, and in his case (reformatted computer), it won't recognize that he is since all his files have been lost.

Does it not do something like store this information on your steam account, so even refomatting does not cause this problem?

Find your config.cfg file (located in Half-Life 2/hl2/cfg), open it in notepad, and find this line

sv_unlockedchapters "xx"

Change the "xx" part to whatever chapter number you want unlocked. If you want all of them unlocked, put 14.

Yea, i had the same problem, completely forgot to backup my hl2 save game files when i formatted (mainly because my housemate deleted the program file drive before i had a chance to rescue them )

Saves are pretty damn big, so saving them on Steam would be madness. I have over 350 megs of saves for HL2.

When you load that map again, just type sv_cheats 1, then impulse 101, and that will give u all the weapons.

At that point in the game, you already HAVE all the weapons, so it's faster to just use impulse 101 to get them back.
