All I want to play is deathmatch, but can't due to it being stuttery.

I have a p4 3.2 ghz, 512 ram. But only a 56k modem.

Surely it's possible for someone with a 56k to play online?

I have no trouble playing call of duty online.

Is their a certain setting I have to choose for the paupers with only 56k modem?

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

I used to play CoD with a 56k until I got broadband, and you've probably noticed how you have to lead all your targets when playing as theres a delay from when you fire, to when the bullets actually hit (on broadband it's instant), and this goes with everything - when you lean out from a corner and shoot someone, and lean back and in and die mysteriously, its really because you didn't really lean back in till a second or so after you thought you did. But yeh, with HL2DM there's tonnes of stuff going on with physics which will cause so much lag it's unbearable for a 56k, I tried to play on my older computer with dial up and it was just unplayable. HL2DM isn't really dialup-friendly.

Um, yeah, it's possible, but that doesn't mean you'll have a very good experience. Games these days just eat up a lot of bandwidth.

If I were you, I would put broadband first on my list of upgrades, if you can get broadband in your area. I have dsl and its the shitz0rz ;)
