Oh my word!! Just got to this part. It looks incredible! That may be something to do with the 'Tweak guides' HL2 pages I went through earlier resulting in me changing a few settings. What really impressed me was the 'ride' you go on in one of those people pod things :E That was just amazing! It was like the HL2 version of the tram ride from the opening of the original Half Life. One of the most amazing sequences I've ever seen seen in any game! It was stunning!

Sorry, Just had to come on here & say that :cheese:

Well, I have to agree to that... it was cool exploring the Citadel and seeing how they make all those military stuffs and soldiers. Too bad... it was short... shorter than the tram ride on HL.

The last two chapters in HL2 are the most memorable experiences in the game to me. From seeing the tower yards away from you (in Our Benefactors), which gave me a sense of awe tat I havent felt since I saw the T-Rex in Jurassic Park, to the ride in throught the building... to the end ;)

yeah it was soo cool!!! It was like Lord of the Rings wen they were about to approach the tower.

I was gonna stop playing and go to bed when I jumped down into the tunnel leading to the citadel, but as soon as I got out to the other side and saw the citadel, I forgot that I was sleepy and played right through to the end. Finnaly went to bed at 6 am. Going into the Citadel was definately the coolest part of the game :)

haha definatlry.. . my jaw dropped to the the floor at taht very part of the game .... the citadel is. just. so. ****ing. huge. omg. my jaw dropped to the floor for at least 10 to 15 minutes.

its kinda ironic how u are in a tram ride before this whole mess begins and then in HL2 u are once again in a similar type ride to try and "clean" it up.
yeah the inner Citadel levels were pure eye candy

The Citadel was amazing. Especially when my pod went past a speeding razor train - unforgettable! The music adds to the whole "mysterious" feel of the Citadel.

The first time I got into a pod I whent the wrong way! :D I thought I was going to teleport somewhere when that beam thing came on but I just got fried!!

Also, The blue gravity gun is amazing! I was initialy dissapointed that I couldn't pick up bodies with the original gravity gun as was demostrated in the original video tech demo of the Source engine (That original video still looks amazing). It's great that they included this at the end though. It would have upset the balance of all the other weapons if you had this much power in any other part of the game.

Agreed, the citadel i just so...alien, it doesnt feel like something human, and thats why i love it, you feel isolated, or at least, thats the way i felt.

It was amazing... first, getting closer and closer to the citadel for the two previous chapters, then seeing it just a few metres away, then jumping in... it was so beautiful and so non-human inside... when riding those pods, I was sitting there with my mouth open.

Actually, the fact that it's very easy with the blue gravgun adds to the feeling. If it was hard, you'd have to reload often, and the great immersion and atmosphere would be broken a bit. I only had to reload once there, so it was even better that way... definitely some great ending chapters!

Definitely a feeling of isolation. From the moment Dog drops that panel down your on your own! Very well done that bit. It reminds me of when you teleported to Xen in the first game except the Citadel looks tons better. Actually, I wonder how Xen would look fully sourced up? :)
