So I randomly decided to create a corporation for the very few of us who play EVE Online. The main goal of this corporation is to unite the members that currently play EVE Online and to draw new members to our community.

If you're currently in a NPC corp (or just willing to switch corps because hl2.net is awesome), I highly recommend you join it.

Currently our home base is in Aramachi, just two jumps from Motsu. I figured that would be a good place to draw in some of the missioners. I have an office there too (just to see how things work). We'll put up additional offices as we grow and maybe even move the headquarters.

So let me know what you think. Let me know if you're interested in joining.

Corporation Information

Name: Halflife2.net [HL 2]
HQ Location: Aramachi II - Moon 4 - Caldari Navy Testing Facilities
Races: All
Operations: Mining, Mission Runners, Fleet Operations, Research & Development, Skirmish Warfare, Manufacturing, Trade, Logistics

Public In-game Channel: Halflife2.net <--- Join this so we chat easily in-game.
Public Steam Group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/hl2neteve/ <--- Join this so we can schedule when everyone can get on.

I'll join I guess. Not that I play anymore.

If I ever muster up the courage to try and play the game again, I'll join for sure.

Shame you didn't announce this when I played Eve and was needing something, anything to keep me playing.

I don't anymore BTW.

You should try again. We could all PvP each other freely. Lol.

... I mean play together as a team. The game is more fun when you have people to play with constantly. Then you can get into some major fleet battles.

Same for me too. I can't even beat the first mission. ;(

If you're a noob and need help, I can pull you along some missions and teach you the ways of the carebear. ;)

The thing is, I can't even make it past the overwhelming tutorial.
I listened and did as I was told for like 10 minutes and then my ADD started kicking in and I got incredibly bored and intimidated by the insane amount of shit that you have to memorize and do. D:

Plus the core gameplay consists of laza's going pew pew and that's it. It's just ferrying stuff around or blowing stuff up.

Shit I remember when I was new and just warping across Kakakela took a few tries. Everything seemed so immense and beautiful back then, you should enjoy it while it lasts. Now it's just like everything is so trivial lol.

I might give the trial another go one of these days, I'm really on a space game kick right now.

Do it. Having random PvP fights with corp mates will ease the burden of all the initial skill training.

You will lose AtomicSpark.

You will lose.

Soon, they will have gotten their 30th frigate blown up, discover the game is not WoW, and quit!

WTF, you joined the forums just to grief! HOW DARE YOU! You are so banned! :frown:

I love you though. My noob. <3

I might download the demo again and give it another go. Last time I tried I did end up in a corp but it wasn't very active.

I'm on every night. It's what happens when you make friends with veteran players/devs. :P

When I played I got to the end of the two week trial.

I had a couple of frigates, a destroyer or whatever, some reasonable newbie cash, but I had absolutely nothing to do, too much warping, too many yawn missions, so yeah, while I like the look an idea of Eve I'de rather just at least grind for my skills then sit watching them go up and having nothing to do because I cant risk my neck just to go find a corp (who will just make me mine and do runs anyway).

Hah, the coincidence! Motsu is where one of my corps offices is at and where i usually hang around when im in Empire, to bad our timezones are almost opposite :( I wont be able to join the corp because of the current corp im in, but il add you to my buddy list. I assume its ur forum name.

I have an idea, lets make a corp with the HQ in Jita! Im sure we will progress faster than any other corp :bonce: (im not serious...)

Game is downloaded, account is made... here goes nothing.

And, I was once again overwhelmed and did not have fun. :(, I'll keep it installed until someone feels like walking me through. :D

Yes, the game isn't for everyone and to be honest, the trial isn't long enough to get a fair assessment of the game either. That initial skillset takes a long time to train, but sadly it must be there for balance. The into tutorial isn't the best either, but it's focusing on game mechanics rather then trying to nudge you into "fun".

This isn't really a tough game. However, the amount of choices and options you are faced with can overwhelm you at first. You will get used to it after awhile, but it's hard explaining that to a newbie. The time-based skill training also makes it a slow progress, but I believe is a very unique and good way to run a skill biased game. The offline training aspect is also great for those who cannot log in every day to grind so you don't get far behind.

What I'm thinking about doing is just letting the newbie members follow me or someone else on some higher level missions. This will quickly get them the standings they need to run any mission and some money to start out with. I'll probably also have the corp hanger filled up with lower meta level modules that newbies can take and use (as long as they don't abuse it). These modules can be scooped up from any combat mission and usually are worthless to any one that is sporting tier 2 modules.

Remember that missioning isn't the only way to make money in the Eve universe, but probably is the best option for you newbies. Our corp would gladly welcome any profession and I actually encourage it. With a few miners, researchers, and manufactures, our corp would be very self sufficient.

I have to agree, while I found the training itself over time only helped to leave me stumped for things to do, I can really appriciate the idea of being able to skill up and you know, keep up while going off and doing your own RL things as one must.

I'm unlikly to join right this second if at all but I am very intrested in helping out everyone who may want to join in and have a game. I have been talking to AtomicSpark and he has set up and ingame chat channel which I'll join and would advise everyone to join.

What would be great if a bunch of people who are semi intrested or even not intrested come and have a go, get the free trial, join the room and we can help you out to get the basics.

I know damn well that eve does have its boring moments but the fun moments are great! One good pvp fight will get you hocked. Even if we get one person intrested we are going to meet up, set up a small fleet with cheap setups, even noob ships and go out for a fight!

We we are lucky we will find some lone ratters and scew them over! :)

Reply here and lets have a go!

And join the steam group and ingame chat channel. We can have some major fun here together as a group and work together as a team :)

PS

There seems to be quite a few who have had a go and then stoped playing, come and have another go :) We we get a group together you will have a lot more fun.

If you are intressted, maybe sometime we can do mission running together sometime, lvl 1-4 whichever. It would be great to do a lvl4 mission with someone because i havent done one before so i dont know what to expect. Whats the channel name?

Click the on the Channels & Mailing Lists button, click Join and type in "Halflife2.net" and click OK.

I won't be on till late. I work until 8 PM CST tonight.

If you guys can get me through the first missions, then I'm in. This would be my 3rd trial btw.

At least I can sit through the tutorial and understand how to play, how many other noobs have you taught have done that?

Well get on, just the steam community and we see what we can do to help you get through the initial stages of the game!

So did I. Twice. Once like, a year or 2 ago.
Then I got bored.

Eh, I'll try and be a bit more supportive since apparently I'm here to stay.

To be honest, 14 days isn't enough time to really get into the game. Sure, the tutorial is long and boring, but once you really get into the game, you'll see it's not very much to understand (except some nuances here and there). If you're in Caldari space, just send me a message (in game name is Gryphius) and I'll see if I can help you.

Hell, I'd say the game is worth playing in the beginning just for the pride of getting the next ship class and laughing at how small frigates seem in your brand-new cruiser.

EDIT: AtomicSpark will tell you I'm a noob. Ignore him.

Okay I'm in, Eve finished downloading last night, I've done the Tutorial, I'm arriving at the HL2.net HQ and AtomicSpark is online to let me in.

The Steam trial is 21 days BTW.

Make sure you join the steam group as well guys, I normly have my steam account on all day at work so you can throw me any questions you may have :)

Think I might give the trial another go and play for a few months, HERE'S the trial for anyone who wants to give it a go.

I'll drop in on your corp as soon as I get set up.

Good to see a few people intrested, I'm finding the hl2.net in channel room is not empty :) A good sign!

Too bad it probably takes 2 years to get a ship like that. D:
