Outpost (WIP)

Is there any way you could get some screenshots from better perspectives by going into fly-mode. For some screenshots it's nice to have the HUD up and be stood on the floor because it gives you an idea of scale, but other times it's nice to have a high-angle shots to get a good idea of general composition.

In most maps you'll probably be asked to come up with realistic-looking buildings, roads, rock faces, etc. which you may well not have ready access to. For this you need to do studies, just like artists do studies of the body before painting people into a picture. You can usually find a good range of imagery to use as case studies by Googling for images.

I googled 'cabin' and got this page. If those aren't the sorts of pictures you want to use as a basis for your work then you need to tailor your search to find what you are looking for. Sometimes sites like Wikipedia can give you basic knowledge of architectural styles to help you be more precise with your searches.

In your pictures you need to be adding more detail to make it look more authentic. Window panes rarely just sit in walls, to hold them in place we fit them into a frame. Think about the physics of your world. For instance, your roof is only being supported at one end, so try to use some pictures of cabins to find out what the most authentic-looking support would be to use.

Need to work on architecture (brush detail, etc), and really, really need some practice with those displacements.

Decent start though.
