Hi everyone

As you can see from my postcount, I used to post here when HL2 was all new and shiny. (okay, I still post in news items...) I recently was going through my webspace and I found my HL2 screenshots + stuff which I didn't remember I had, one of those being motion blurred video made with HL2, links and explanation here.

This brought to my mind Machinimas and the potential which we were supposed to have back then. Like the Murphy law states, the Machinima camera system bugged enormously upon the release of HL2 but apparently the bugs were eventually fixed.

Now here's the question: How are HL2 Machinimas doing nowadays? Back in 2004 there was this guy RabidJester who seemed to have a lot of knowledge about doing that sort of stuff but ever since I haven't heard much of HL2 Machinimas in general. I'm not even sure if this is the right forum to post this sort of question anymore.

Why do I ask? Because I'm interested to participate, that's why :)

Well, machinimas are still quite tricky to manage. A few guys managed to pull off some cool videos, but a real gigantic project like CS' 'Militia 2' I have not yet seen. A few of us wanted to make a DoD:S Machinima, but it never got off the ground.
I think when motion blur and field of depth (or whatever :p) are introduced, machinimas, good and bad ones, will pop out of the interwebs like mushrooms.

Got links for the ones made?

As a side note, is there any demand/interest among the community for this sort of stuff? I know that some artists would most likely enjoy doing Machinimas since Machinimas aren't limited by traditional polycounts and such (proxy objects with low resolution textures for "acting", then just swap in high polygon and high resolution models for the final rendering).

Hmm. I'm starting to form an idea in here.

I think Garry's Mod single-handedly killed Machinimas. I swear that popularity for posing images with GM has risen at about the same rate it has taken Machinimas to simply not appear around all that much....

I checked the available 3 episodes of Select-Start and I liked what I saw...dang, now I'm actually thinking of forming up a Machinima team.
