Overclocking 9800xt

Hi all, i have a 9800xt and would like to overclock it to faster speeds. i have teh omega drivers and it seems to have an overclock setting although whenever i try to turn the core speed up and memory it refuses to load up CS:s and crashes... :| i have a arctic cooling fan on the card so i dont see why this happens and im scared im going to burn out the card. so has anyone got any guesses on how to do it? prehaps a link for a step by step guide? Thanks
