This could have gone in the 'HL2 has parallax mapping...' thread a few down.

Awesome stuff. I wonder how HL2 would look with parallax mapping.

Parallax!!!

That is pretty cool. I'm surprised how fast my 9600pro rendered those demos. Most of these "technology" demos run pretty slow on my video card.

Ditto, my 9600 pro is getting 120 frames a second in the uber bump thing and 80 in the self shadowing demo...

:)

i'll bet that if the technology is as good as advertised, Valve will get it in to soure at some point... i mean, the potential for architecture like stone walls and floors, as well as bricks is really cool. unless it's extreme though, bump maps are probably enough.

I'm only getting about 400 frames for the uber bump, and 150 for the self shadowing. I can't even imagine what someone with a 9800XT and a 3400 AMD 64 would get.

My system:

AMD 2200+
Radeon 9700 Pro
1 gig ram

bah, I need to upgrade.

Apparently it already is.

I found this when the Unreal3.0 video came out. It owns.
