PAUSE while playing CS:S

OK i have no idea what is going on and I need some help. Basically I got a rather piece of work virus on my system so i killed the os partition everything torched. Rebuilt the system... installed HL2, used my steam account which decrypted the files and was about to get on with fraggin since i was majorly POed with the virus issue stress relief... and what do i get more problems....

While playing CS:S after about 3 seconds it gives me a message on the screen PAUSE in a a yellow box and I no longer can control my player... I noticed in console it mentioning something about a packet not finding its way... which i dont get since the router is forwarding port 27015 to my internal adress and there is no firewall up since i turn off the windows firwall..... if any one knows what is wrong HELP!!!

Does this happen on every server you go on? Including listen servers created by yourself?

Every server joined I tried about 15 out to check I was not crazy... listen server has not been tried yet.. how do i do that?

I think I found a fix for you;

It is cause by some routers blocking certain request. I have a linksys router that originally did not cause a problem for me. I recently updated the firmware and the problem startted to occur. I found that it is because of 3 things that were added to my routers capabilitys and changed my settings. The 3 things you need to make sure are set are below:

Edit - Note, its not actually the same error but accourding to a post on HLPortal (French site I think) it is directly linked and fixed another persons problem with the same thing as you

thanks sorta i respect the people here for helping out :cheers: Ok now i have the game pausing... with no error message. Which means the fix worked kinda... any one with ideas on the pausing aspect?

What kind of pausing is it exactly?

Is it crashing or just nothing moving but the game is still running?

Its not crashing per say, it displays that yellow box saying pause... and everything moves like its ultra lagged, all direction keys freeze and all you can do is shoot the gun and reload....
