Everytime I load HL: Source there are two AUTOSAVES showing in the loadscreen (XEN and NIHILANT). I have tried EVERYTHING: from deleting them INgame to redownloading the HL Source gfc file to reinstalling Steam, but it is permanently present. It is rather insignificant but it is nevertheless annoying. Has someone experienced the same bug?Is there a solution to it? Ah, before I forget: there are no save files whatsoever in the SAVE folder in the HL: Source folder, that is what makes this incomprehensible...

Thank you.

Actually, there are saves for each level. Start a new game and forget about them.

Try manually deleting the save files in steamapps\*your account*\half-life source\hl1\save

*edit, sorry, i see you checked that.

did you even read his post :D

actually what's happening is that these saves are in the steam cache folder, they were left out for unknown reason (most likely absent mindedness).
they also forgot a dev map to check if every func_ entities worked fine. "map devtest"

Does it imply that the end-user (us) is unable to correct this? Is this a 'common' occurance among other users?

They go away once you have your own autosaves, as files in the SteamApps folders will override the cache files....

you should be able to correct this by using cgfscape, browsing and deleting the concerned files. what worries me is that because of steam's verification of game files you could have to redownload the thing as steam would think the cgf is corrupted.

it might be fixed, they might not have noticed it... but from what it seems, some valve employees read this occasionally (namely cliffe :smoking: )

I am unable to delete the concerning files in GFCscape...

...but these are indeed the files causing the problem.

How can one delete something within a *.gfc file?

forgive what i said then, i thought you could mess with cgfs with cgfscape.
ATimson's suggestion is your best option

Thanks for the feedback, but what ATimson suggested won't work either, unfortunately. They remain in the loadscreen at all times...

...VALVe do take note of this and please rectify this minor occurance (after the HL2DM is complete that is ;) ).
