Hi people, I am playing half life 2 in 1024x768 high detail... you know, the fps seemed to be well up to the heavy combat scene with an helicopter, before the east of black mesa level, here are my specs:
p4 1.7ghz, 512 sdram, 40gb, radeon 9550 OC from 250/200 to 400/200 (seems to be stable in other games such as far cry, but I get restart's when exiting to windows)
Well, how can I prevent the restarts?
What should I change in the config to gain performance, but lose the minimun posible detail level?
I can't acces the console with ~ key, also, if I start with -console, I have half life version 1.0.1.0, but I am still getting those sound problems, and I don't have +snd_async_prefetch_priority command.
I've tried that famous benchmark, and heapsize doesn't makes any difference at all in fps (also I can't use that comand in console)
Then, I get really long "loading" screens, about 3 or 4 min, I have defragmented, that helped a lot (thanks to the last post).
PD, My radeon 9550 it's a powercolor one, with 256mg, how can I get advantage of the large amount of memory in it?
Thanks!
