two threads in one day (because i'm testing...)

i have some physics props (wrecked cars) that are sinking into the floor, and can be picked up with the physgun (which shouldn't happen of course). their bounding boxes do not intersect with the floor, though they do with other props around them

what gives? i've had this happen with physics brushes on occasion too...

try turning "motion disabed" on in the flags and see if it still sinks threw teh floor

This used to happen in HL2DM. Was it because of too many props, or that the server just crapped out? I don't remember.

they need to be movable by the player however, otherwise i'd just use statics

it certainly isn't too many props. i've had it happen on test maps that are just boxes with some physics stuff in them i was testing

I remember having that problem too.

Some cars worked ok, other didn't. Have you tested the different prop types and other versions of the car for that type (ie: some have "phys" in the word)

yes they all have _phys in their model names. prop_physics non-phys car models don't spawn anyway

and the car models i used are all models valve used so i don't see why any of them should be defective

ok, newsflash time

it appears to be only the red rusty car that sinks in down to its origin, and it spawns non-solid, which suggests that when valve used it they wrapped it in an invisible physbox to give it the appearance of solidity
