I know it's probably not much, and some of you americans probably do it often, but last night I got to play with valve, and they were answering questions over voice chat while playing.

I got these from my memory, and while I didn't get much exciting information, I think it might interest someone:

Q: Why the big soldier nerf? Is this based on the stats you gathered?
A (ErikJ): Yes, this comes directly from the stats. The soldier was too strong, that's why Robin always plays it.

Q: Will we see Hunted come back?
A: Maybe, some day. Depends on the weather.

Q: Will we see a canalzone remake?
A: Very unlikely

Q: What are your views regarding custom rules in competitive gameplay?
A: The tournament we play in has no restrictions

Q: Will we ever see TF2 on linux?
A: Very unlikely - there are a lot of things we can't do on linux that we'd like to.

Q: How come all my pyro damage and kills don't count for the new pack?
A: We weren't collecting that info.

Q: Will you keep making the packs for one class at a time?
A: We keep testing to see hwo our releases go, and get feedback from the community. So far it seems we're staying with one class at a time.

Q: Will you ever fix the shoot-through-gate bug?
A: Hopefully...

(At some point Robin blamed Erik for the Backstab and Auto Balance code. Immediately after this I was auto balanced to the other team and Robin wrote me "Youve been ERIKD!")

Q: Are you happy with the goldrush win/lose stats?
A: Not really... Most of the games end at a loss at the first stage.

Questions that they asked people:

Do you feel the new achievements being more reasonable then the medic ones?

What do you think should be added to the game?

Did any of you play TFC?

So...whenever I get a failed backstab I can blame Erik. :D

That must have been fun. What did they think of people's answers to their questions?

They said "Thanks for the great ideas, we're going to take the credit for them for ourselves" :)

That is actually uber cool. I would have loved to play with Valve sometime.

Man, you should've asked them about Portal 2 or Hal Life 2: Episode Three.

Yeah. They'd definitely answer that. ;)

"Do you feel the new achievements being more reasonable then the medic ones?"

YES

"What do you think should be added to the game?"

More official maps, once the weapons packs are done.

"Did any of you play TFC?"

No but I've heard alot about it. Did the spy really have a shotgun back then?

heh, the spy had two shotguns, a nailgun, a knife, a crowbar, and who knows what else.

Quite interesting. I hope I get the chance one day.

*looks dramatically in another direction*

Wait... did they really say they hadn't played TFC? o_O

^ I think your confusing the questions that were asked to them and the questions that were asked by them.

So every class was overpowered back then? ;)

No, but in all seriousness, it is entirely possible to be top of the scoreboard as spy the day after pyro achievements arrive. I did it just last night, and not against a crappy team mind you. I think it's just a matter of cloaking after every backstab, unless there's a nice lineup. Shame I didn't screenshot the scoreboard after.

It is much easier to own as spy since the update.

Kind of dumb about the Linux. They have it running on DX8, and I don't think that DX8 provides anythign better than what Linux has. It is just un-based Linux fear from devs.. Even Valve has flaws :p

And a tranquilizer gun which made you run slow so you could backstab more easily...oh and you could also feint death, fall on the floor then get up and kill someone from behind.

Thanks for posting those Q&A's OP

And colliding with a scout would remove your disguise.

What was annoying about the spy in TFC was that no matter what you did, you couldn't really accomplish anything.
