please help

i have installed half life 2 to my 'I' directory .The problem is that when i try to play the game,it comes up with the error,"cant find background image 'materials/console/background04.vtf' "!!!!.I have intel celeron 1.8 ,512 MB of ram,win XP service pack2 and my graphics is (intel(R)82845G/GL).I have done some reading at the relevant pages ,but being a newbie,wasnt able to figure out much.I would appreciate if someone could bother to help me in a simple and step by step manner to resolve it.

Im not sure the game will be playable with that comp but anyway, did you try to validate HL2 files? Did you download the game or you installed it from the CDs?
