Post screens/movies here

i'm sure they included "bug report" as a menu option for no reason... because anyone who finds a problem with the game is nit picking and trying to spoil everyone's fun! the game is clearly perfect!

not!

also, the T in css6.jpg has a banana head.

OMG the deagle is sex on legs....

But wait, so is the AK!

And the M4....

And the nifty awp scope shader...

OMG I need to play you bar stewards!!!

:|

wow, overreact, much? don't freak out, man. CS looked like shit, compared to other games. cs rules. css will be even better. just making a damn observation.

Edit: I agree, the mp5 (and the m4 as well) look verra sweet. :smoking:

the T model on Tork's "css10" image looks pretty bad. Like a hunchback with broken shins.
and on "css4" the bullet hole lokos like it's intended for a wood surface (not that it isn't way better than the old ones).
the graphics, on the whole, aren't all that amazing. But it is a port off a five year old engine, and I'll bet they work on it some morebefore it's released...
despite all this, it looks very exciting. i cant wait :D

You're joking right? I mean the bullet holes are intented for a wood surface because he IS shooting wood, those are the wooden doors near the CT spawns.
oh yeah and really do u think those pics were taken on an high-end rig with all effects turned on? cmon these look like they are running a dx7 vid card, normal they don't look the best, but I think they are really detailed and well done and valve did another great job like every other thing they've made.

They're impressive...but not that impressive.

Im sorry...Doom 3 spoiled me.

lol... the mere screenshots blew my Doom 3 away. I don't even care about that game any more when I get my hands on CS:S hotness..

BTW, I personally think that Doom 3's weapons look horribly worse than those seen in these CS:S screenshots. I love how the deagle looks nothing like the one we saw on the de_aztec screenie while back. And those arms.. man! was I horribly HORRIBLY wrong about them... Whoever said CS:S arms are worse than those of CS:CZ.. I don't know what more to suggest you other than GET SOME GLASSES!!! lol

Gotta love the reflection on the scope- It's of the tunnel behind you (oooooooh!)

Yeah and maybe the realistic physics broke that CTs arm like that:D

All in all it's looking very nice, christ why do I have to wait a week:(

Interesting little fact... Doom3's marine skybox is only a 256x256 texture!!!! HL2 uses a complicated 3D skybox that I could explain in detail :) Well I'll sum it up.

Anthing outside the map that you still want to be viewable you put on a layer under the map at 1/16th scale. A camera then renders it and blows it up and BAM you have some sweet ass 3D skybox goodness.

Doom3 is all about low polygonal usage. Like look at the Imp's head, needs more polys. Same with the hands etc etc etc... A big complaint from people who turn on Self Shadowing, is that the models are so low poly that since the shadows go on a per poly basis on models you get black triangles popping in/out... Now don't get me wrong the models still look awesome with the normal map! But some parts could have used more polish.

Screenshots blow me... No not blow me away... just plain blow me nicely ;)

1. there are bullet holes in a brick wall that are the same as the holes in the wooden wall.

2. how many cyber cafes do you know that run DX7 cards?

use some common sence.

That T, CT models are definitely the best parts of CS:S as of now imo. I really don't know why everyone wants their player models all straigthened up like they want their head shot off.. If you take a look at some of the real life photos of soldiers and combat units on high alert or in a battle... You don't see their backs straigthened up now do you?? Haven't you watched "Saving Private Ryan" and during the beach landing some of the soldiers scream out "KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN!!"??? The reason why the player models look hunched back.. is maybe, perhaps, they are taking aim down the sight of their guns. Or, simply, they don't want to get shot in the head too easily. I suggest that you think many ways when you make your "observation".
And as for the bullethole... I really don't know what you're criticizing about...
And, also, about the graphics.. I'm sure that the computer that the person was playing his/her CS:S on wasn't that high-end.. or just not set to the max details. I'm rather enthralled that the game's graphics are scaleable since I don't have a state of the art computer myself.

1. that's not a brick wall on that screenie (I think it's one of the double doors that leads to bombsite B)

http://premium.uploadit.org/tork64/css4.jpg

2. Hmm... the cyber cafes near my place have some shitty comps... prolly shitty graphics card.. since all they have are games like StarCraft, CS, Diablo II, and all those games that demand very little and still playable.

Ok sorry about the bullet holes I didn't noticed they were the same on brick

And about the cards I exaggerated alot but you can't judge CSS' graphics by looking a those screenshots, obviously they weren't running a beefy computer and they lost quality because of the screenshots compression. That's what I meant sorry for the confusion.

i would be cool if u could see a enemy coming from behind in ur scope :)
i hope thats in

It could probably have a few added shiny parts...

Wow they need to fix that player model ASAP hehe looks all funky :P

I'm not talking about the hunch. I think the hunch is a little overdone, but if it were just that, I wouldn't care. I'm looking at this pic, and saying, "That guy looks DEFORMED." I'm making an observation that this model still needs some work done.

It looks like a bullethole in wood, but it's a stone wall. Not critizizing, just observing.

To sum up... I'm very excited about the game, I don't plan to overanalyze, I'm just pointing out a minor bug. I'm sure everyone understands this is a WIP, and I am not attacking Valve, Counterstrike, the source engine, or anyone here. Sheesh.

[Edit] Or, heck... maybe it's just the angle. I've seen people look deformed, in real life. It's only one screeny. [/Edit]

hmmmmmmm the m4 looks TIGHT first person
cant wait to play it on my comp FULL SETTINGS!

That "hunched" pic is exactly how you hold a gun while walking/jogging and aiming at the same time. EXACTLY.

If we're talking about the same picture, that is not exactly how you hold a gun, unless you have a anomalous growth the size of a football growing by your shoulderblade.

...
sorry. i don't mean to be hostile or confrontational. but this game is not perfect and has obvious visual faults, and i don't think theres anything wrong with pointing them out.

If your jogging and aiming with a gun (other than a pistol) you bring your head down to the gun like that and not the gun up to your head. Im not a soldier or anything, but I play airsoft A LOT and everyone aiming and running must have an anomalous growth.

EDIT: OOOOOOH NVM, i see what your pointing out now. I think that could be just his back not being straight. Who knows I would have to see that in motion.

Yeah the M4 looks shweeeet!!! in first person. They will put better w_model's in for the release...I hope.Something comparable to the p_model(first person)

I think it'd be cool to have the option to have the weapon ejection ports on the right-side.I don't need the brass in my face.

Most everything else looks great maybe being the beta it's just a little rough around the edges? :upstare:

You cant tell much from screens. Movies are what makes games look really nice. Need to see some of those soon! :)

yeah, I'm sure it's just an artifact of skeletal animation. it just looks wierd. probably not even noticable during play.

anyway, to anyone who's played the beta... are the weapons simulated? to they bounce or skitter when the player dies? can they be kicked, or shot??

I'd like an option for the ejection ports to point into my mouth, so I chew on the brass...
Hmm. I've been lookign at the screen too long. I'm getting delerious.

From the videos ive seen, yes, but I dunno about the beta since I have not played it yet.

I guess the M4 w_model looks as good to you as the p_model ?

ease up it's contructive criticism if it's just pointing out a crappy model without all the VALVe this,VALVe that (Q$(*)!!)$$__( ranting

I cant see any movies around? You should be able to record direct to avi so i tought that there should be lots around :\

that's fine. we don't care if you have money. i just hope you have brains. if someone gets some new screen-shots, I'm sure they'll put them up for all to see. In the mean time, a little discussion will pass the time. If on the other hand, you want to post pointless flames and spam, i suggest you un-register yourself and continue lurking, if you have nothing to contribute.

otherwise, welcome to hl2.net :)
