Recently, I replayed Lost coast and I found this. When you start Lost Coast, if you keep pressing left and front key, you can miss your suit. Then you can fight without your health digits on. You can still fight with guns, but you cannot select them. What you can do is switch between the gun you are using and the grav gun. No flash light, no run. Really hard and can test your skill on different gun. I remember that I can do that in Ep:1 as well. That can increase the difficulty a lot. Those who don't like the ease of HL2, have a try. :D

That must be ultra-awesome, esp. the weapon switch and no health meter part.

This reminds me of something I once read about on the steampowered HL1 forums, called the "play as a labcoat scientist" challenge. By skipping the HEV suit with the console, you get to play HL1 with all the disadvantages of a non-suited Gordon:

-No armor.
-Can't monitor health or ammo(have to guess)
-No health chargers(have to rely on medkits and scientists for healing)
-No crosshair.
-No flashlight.

Although you have to cheat yourself a new suit when you get to Xen, since the long jump is required there. Of course, you can pretend you got it from the empty "suit holders" at the end of Lambda Core.

I'm not sure how it would work for HL2. Are there any areas where suit features(such as the flashlight and sprint) are required? Because I know a few are in Ep. 1.

How do you continue past barney at the security door if you dont get your suit in HL1?

well noclip or skipping maps kinda defeats the concept of legally completing the game without the suit...

Not really, you only skip like, 2 meters...with noclip or the other one, there's a loading point just inside
