If you had the manipulator out with a metal barrel "connected" to it and ran full speed at a combine soldier and rammed him what would happen?
Or if you spun around and hit him with it, what happens?
Could he fall, or get his gun knocked out of his hands?

If you hit him hard enough, he'd die. I'm not sure if they've implemented dropping guns, though.

What if you launch a wooden crate at a combine soldier that is facing you 100 feet away, would he try to dodge it?

Seriously, how in hell should we know?

Well, because we've already asked these kind of questions to valve on email (at least hitting people while holding the crate), and the info from valve thread is way too big to go through.

Although, that second question is pretty riddiculous :|
You need the game for that kind of Qs.

..if that was the case, couldn't you just up your mouse sensitivity and spin around incredibly quickly, sending things flying?

you could...

or you could just use the manipulator to shoot it farther than you could swing it....

and you say it like it would be cheating...I mean what advantage would that give you?

Good Point. Hmmm...

About the other question.. If they saw the crate or whatever coming toward them... Maybe they would move, it all depends if Valve coded it in or not.

Email Gabe.

Not if they included centrifugal (sp?) force (which i think they do). The manipulator wouldn't be able to 'hold on' to the object if you were spinning really fast.

Well, you don't know that for a fact. That, and it would be pretty overpowered as a melee weapon, seeing as how (if it worked) you could potentially hit something/someone as fast as the sensitivity would allow.

Also, the manipulator has plenty of power - we all know it's capable of propelling the player 50 feet into the air. I don't think lack of centripetal force is going to be an issue.

That said, it's unlikely to be an issue because if it was, it would have been balanced out. Even so, I think it's a fair point.

vegeta, I would find it strange if a soldier would simply stand there and take a crate to his head... Thus, VALVe has added it to HL2... PPL will try to dodge items.

Note: Gabe has already answered that question in the info-thread anyway, and yes, they will try to dodge if they see it and it's possible.

you'd certainly kill him with it if you whacked him with it good. I doubt that you'll knock the gun out his hands before he's alive. though it does happen in games. In the jedi knight series you could yank the weapons from enemies with force pull and they'd just surrender or go chase the weaposn down so it wouldn't be hard to do.
