Isn't the source code the actual code that the engine is built with? And if this is so, isn't this what Valve has been developing for 5+ years? And if THIS is so, couldn't the "bad guy" kinda sell this code to other companies?

I bet Valve is going crazy right now, knowing their little 5 year old is out there in the wild...

Yeah your right on all accounts. There is one thing that might get in the way and that the fact that we all have a God given conscience to know the difference between right and wrong.

The bad guy doesn't need to sell it since everybody can download it for free. Nobody can make an actual product from it though since it is illegal, and they will go straight to jail.

No major game developers would dare use this source. they will still buy it from vavle if they wish to licsense it.
