So was Black Mesa researching Xen life forms before the resonance cascade , as seen in the HL1 chapter ?

Also what sector of the Black Mesa facility is it ?

I'm pretty sure they were, in opposing force they have barnacle samples, although that's not 100% canon.

As for where it is, I've forgotten which sector I was in when I played OP4

Aye, the scientists knew about Xen for an unknown amount of time before HL1.

Black Mesa was definately studying Xen before the Resonance cascade.

They've got a module designed specifically for navigating Xen, after all.

And they've got that satellite thing set up in Blue Shift, although once again it's questionable if it can be considered canon.

Don't forget all the Headcrabs and HoundEyes and such in the cages. And also the Alien Grunts in the lab specimen chambers. ;)

And the dead HEV-suit scientists you see when you venture there. not to mention that "Base Camp" in Blue Shift, after travelling through Xenien wilderness.

what was that base thing in blue shift anyway? i mean like what were they doing there? anywhere mentioned?

Blue Shift isn't the canon-minefield that OP4 is. Most of the stuff in it actually supports HL1 and HL2 (Except maybe Calhoun being "Out of range" of the g-man, even though nothing really seems to be out of his range in HL2).

Which is entirly consistent with the Xen relay Mossman talks about in HL2 :)

Really? Or is it just Gordon can't see? The primary control target of G-man is Gordon as far as I know.
